Your domain is your address, your brand and your first impression, all at once. Spend an hour choosing it properly.

The radio test

Say your domain out loud to someone, then have them type it. If they get it wrong, pick another one. That single test eliminates most bad choices: letter-by-letter spellings, hyphens in the middle, numbers that could be digits or words. "sa-v3r-store.co.za" fails the radio test, and so does anything with a "z" that's actually an "s". Short and boring beats clever every time. Clever makes people ask how it's spelled. Boring just works.

.co.za or .com?

For a South African business, .co.za tells local customers you're here, and local trust converts. .com travels if you plan to sell across borders. You don't have to choose: register both and point them at the same site. It costs roughly the price of a coffee a year to make sure nobody else takes the other one and sells your customers something with your name on it.

The boring habits that matter

Register the domain in the company's name, not your personal one, with admin, tech and billing contacts all real. Use an email address that won't die when someone leaves. Lock auto-renewal on and put a reminder in your calendar anyway, because registrars sell expired domains to squatters within days of expiry, and getting one back costs thousands. We've seen a business lose a decade-old domain to an expired credit card.

Where we fit in

We register .co.za, .com and .africa domains with instant activation and host them on local infrastructure, because a great name on a slow site is still a slow site. If you're stuck on options, send us the shortlist and we'll tell you which one holds up.

Not sure your domain is safe? We'll check the registration, expiry and renewal setup, and tell you what's missing.

The Real Cost of Downtime for a Small Business
An outage costs the sales you can count, plus the customers you'll never hear about. Most of them don't come back.
